Affordable Healthcare in Los Angeles

If you are looking for affordable healthcare in Los Angeles, you are not alone. I spent years avoiding my healthcare because I didn’t have insurance and was too afraid to face the costs. I relied solely on home remedies and self-care to heal my ailments and neglected to seek medical treatment. Then one day at an empowerment conference, I heard a speaker ask the audience “Is the self-care movement a poor band-aid for the disparities in healthcare in this country?”

While I do believe self-care is important, this question made me realize that it should not be a substitute for adequate healthcare. And when I finally did get insurance and started going to doctors and dentists, I was able to see how access to healthcare is truly life changing.

If you do not have insurance or have poor coverage, check out the resources I compiled below. Don’t neglect your healthcare out of fear, there are options to still receive quality care.

Psychotherapy

Many therapists leave room in their practice to provide free services or sliding scale services for low income folks, however this is not usually advertised. When shopping around for a therapist ask each one do they offer a sliding scale or have room in their practice for pro-bono work. If they are currently full, ask them if they know colleague that has space for one.

I hope these resources help you find affordable healthcare in Los Angeles. Let me know if you have any other resources and I will add them for others as well. Happy caring!
